Besides the Observatory on Italian Treaty Practice on Migration Related Issues, the 2019/2020 International Human Rights Legal Clinic focused on three other projects. Each project was carried out by a group of students. The first group submitted a report to the Working group on arbitrary detention (WGAD) defending the academic freedom of scholars before the United Nations, in order to advocate the case of Khalil Al Halwachi, a scholar and political activist from Bahrain. The second group drafted a third-party intervention before the ECtHR in the case Alosa and others v. Germany and Italy for the violation of provisionsof the ECHR, namely Article 2 (right to life), Article 6 (right to a fair trial) and Article 13 (right to an effective remedy). Lastly, the third group drafted part of a communication to be brought before the Human Rights Committee, alleging that Italy and Libya share responsibility for various human rights violations resulting from pull-back operations conducted by Libyan authorities.
