The relationship between Italy and Gambia has not been considerably rich in the past, as it is inferred by the lack of relevant cooperation and international agreements between the parties. Despite the absence of Gambia from the priority countries enlisted in the Italian Development Cooperation, the country became recipient of italian funds since 1985.

2010

Bilateral Cooperation Agreement for fighting irregular migration

The text of the Agreement has not been disclosed to the public, but official sources held that the agreement was meant for the reinforcement of police cooperation against migrants smuggling and irregular immigration.

Memorandum of Understanding on the reinforcement of the cooperation in the sector of management of borders and of security between Italy and Gambia

This MoU amends and updates the contents of the 2010 agreement.
